Joseph Cheaney
The company Joseph Cheaney was founded in 1886 and still produces ‘welted’ footwear entirely manufactured in the same English factory.
Cheaney was purchased from the Prada Group in 2009 by cousins William and Jonathan Church, who’s family involvement in the UK shoe industry stretches back over five generations.
The factory made footwear for private label brands only until the 1970s when it started selling under the Cheaney brand. The brand has grown significantly over the years and in 2016 the company celebrates its 130th anniversary, with 7 retail shops, the flagship being at 21 Jermyn Street, London and a growing export market.
